Your Phone-a-thon Donations at Work

Back in July, I shared about three of the projects that were funded by the 2016 Alumni Phone-a-thon – tablets for the Admissions Department, the Alumni Induction Luncheon, and the gym floor.  At this Thanksgiving time of year, I wanted to be sure to thank you for your generous donations that enabled us to purchase two other important items as well.  The new-to-us vehicle pictured below is a blessing to our Security team.  They actually get to drive it around, unlike their old vehicle which was always in the shop!  We are also thankful for the automated external defibrillator which has been installed in the dorm.  A converse sentiment exists for the AED as opposed to the vehicle, though; we hope we never need to use the AED!  Thank you once again to each alumnus who gave toward these much-needed projects.

The Security team members are riding in style with our new campus security vehicle, a 2004 Jeep Liberty! Generous alumni gave financially during the 2016 phone-a-thon (coordinated by the inimitable Sara Klaassen), and as a result the Security department has been blessed with this reliable vehicle to replace our old one.

Phone-a-thon donations allowed for the purchase of the Jeep, and a generous friend of Calvary assisted with the cost of the reflective decals, which were applied by Advertising Arts Sign Co. in Grandview.

The new Jeep is a huge blessing to the Security team, but also the whole campus community. Blake Lamb, Security Lieutenant said:

“The Jeep has been such a blessing; it was definitely an upgrade for all of us. All the security officers love it and are very thankful to those who were willing to give and help in purchasing it. God has greatly provided for our department this summer, and the Jeep will benefit us tremendously in serving and protecting the Calvary community.”

We on the Security team are honored to provide the Calvary community with the safest campus possible, and the Jeep will help us continue to improve our security coverage and services.

Thank you to everyone who contributed toward this project during or after the Phone-a-thon!
