Special Requirements
- The student must complete two qualifying semesters at Calvary before being admitted into the Professional Directed Studies Program. (A student transferring more than 30 hours into a Professionally Directed Studies Program and meeting the academic requirements may have this prerequisite waived and be allowed into the Professional Directed Studies program his/her first semester.)
- The student must have the academic credentials for acceptance to both institutions (e.g., high school transcripts and ACT scores corresponding to the entry requirements of Calvary and the other institution).
- Academic advising from both institutions is required, and the student must submit contact information from the other institution to the Professional Directed Studies Director.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher with no grade lower than 2.0 in all professional and content courses must be maintained.
- The student must annually submit official transcripts to the Calvary Registrar’s Office.
- The student must create and update a portfolio including (at a minimum) one assignment from each class within their major which addresses a course student learning outcome for that class. The portfolio will also include a ten -to-twelve-page summative paper to be added during the last semester addressing at least four key principles, concepts, constructs, or elements of their major discipline from a biblical worldview. Further, the paper will answer the question: “How do you articulate the ways the biblical worldview informs your vocational competency, values, and attitudes in your chosen discipline?” The PDS Director will empanel a review committee to interview the student and assess their portfolio during the last semester at Calvary. The portfolio process is a condition for graduation from this program. If the partner institution requires a portfolio process as part of their curricular requirement, the student may substitute that portfolio with the addition of the summative paper.
