This role is a hybrid position, working both in office and work from home options.
Position Purpose:
The position is responsible for completing the tax compliance associated with and accounting for non-cash (complex assets) gifts to The Signatry including the gift intake, management of the gift during time of ownership and liquidation when the asset is sold. This position will work closely with the Tax partners and Legal team to research and implement tax treatment and required GAAP accounting for the gifts as well as Complex Asset Donors to obtain financial information on their gift. This position will also play a key role in the annual composition and filing of Federal forms 990 and 990-T, as well as equivalent state tax filings.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Legal team during the development of the gift opportunity and gift intake process to understand the type of asset gifted, the gift’s legal structure and associated reporting requirements, whether the asset is taxable to The Signatry, and accounting and tax treatment.
- Collaborate with donors and their finance staff during the gift management stage including calculating and preparing the gift data that will be provided to donors through a donor Summary of Activity Report (SOA). Analyze donor financial statements and tax returns as key aspects of managing the gifted business interests.
- Partner with the CPA firm to complete the 990 and 990-T tax return for the taxable business interest assets. Prepare quarterly tax payments and manage donor tax distributions.
- Prepare analysis and reporting for management for tax and non-cash gifts.
Manage and track cash flow for asset gift distributions including tracking receivable and payable asset transfer settlements with the donor accounts, the IRS and State taxing authorities. - Manage month end closing for complex assets, including preparing and recording journal entries, consolidation entries, completing account reconciliations and developing variance analysis. Complete bank reconciliations for complex asset accounts.

Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with a tax emphasis and 5-7 years of experience preferred
- Strong Excel skills, financial analysis capabilities and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to convey information clearly to the external CPA Tax firm, Finance and Legal teams within The Signatry and donors
- Strong teamwork skills to collaborate on projects across the organization.
- Ability to complete research, develop recommendations and make presentations
- Ability to work in a fast- paced environment and react quickly to changes in direction
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and meet deadlines
