TITLE: Executive Pastor

REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor


CLASSIFICATION: Regular, full-time

SALARY RANGE: 50,000-70,000

DATE: March 3, 2023


GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The role of the Executive Pastor is overseeing daily operations, goal setting, and the ministry planning of Harrisonville Community Church.  The primary function of this position is executive level support working closely with the Senior Pastor executing structural, technical, & day-to-day operations to align the church vision throughout the organization. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that the Senior Pastor is able to focus on his primary role of teaching, preaching, vision casting, and leadership of the Church.



  • Ensure that our facility, budget, and technology is well-organized and operating according to best practices
  • Create and implement systems and structures for church
  • Communicate, execute, and develop the vision and strategy for the ministry volunteers and staff in alignment with the church’s vision
  • Manage, lead, direct, and oversee the administration team according to the vision of the church
  • Provide oversight and direction as it relates to the daily operations and technology


  • Develop and administer a system for maintaining and revitalizing church facilities and grounds
  • Monitor and maintain all equipment needed for sound, lighting and technology
  • Serve as a project manager for both individual and team-based projects
  • Oversee hiring processes, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and termination activities for church staff
  • Recruit volunteers or hire contractors who can provide reasonable and reliable services in the maintenance and repair of church building & properties
  • Provide guidance and oversight in the development of the operating and capital budget. Serve as primary coordinator during budget process
  • Monitor the operating and capital budgets
  • Review monthly bills for accuracy and potential cost savings
  • Maintain and review contracts for software, services, and equipment
  • Review and process ministry expenditures
  • Work with the staff & volunteers in the development and implementation of a service plan/flow for all Sunday morning services
  • Serve on the School Board to represent the vision of the Church and provide direction, communicate, and execution coordinating with the board for school operations and goals


  • Serve in the role of IT Systems Administrator for Church and School
  • Install and configure software, hardware, and networks
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
  • Implement and monitor web/device filtering for student networks and hardware
  • Serve as our Tech Ministry Team Lead (Audio, Video & Lighting) for Church
  • Maintain and prepare all AVL systems for Church and School activities
  • Ensure plans and media are entered into media projection computer for all services/events
  • Ensure Tech Ministry Team is scheduled for all Church and School Events, Serving whenever needed
  • Recruit and train volunteers for Tech Ministry Team
  • Create or secure media for use with Sermon Series, Announcements, & Social Media
  • Serve as Web and Internet lead for Church and School
  • Manage our Church Management Software (PCO)
  • Explore and Update our in-house technology and communication channels


  • Support and Respond positively to the leadership and vision of the Senior Pastor
  • Develop and maintain good relationships and open communication with staff and lay leaders
  • Interact with the elders and church treasurer
  • Coordinator and communicate with the Administrative Assistant/Office Manager
  • Manage and direct building maintenance/custodian in a direct supervisory role


  • College Graduate from an accredited 4-year school
  • Seminary degree preferred but not required
  • At least 3-4 years of experience as an Executive Leadership position or Executive Pastor position, and coaching and directing leaders in a business or ministry environment
  • Salary range negotiable based on experience, education, and leadership abilities
  • Ability and passion to grow and develop people
  • Ability to mentor and disciple others with wisdom and grace, thereby equipping and encouraging others to make disciples

  • Possess an understanding and efficiency with technology, budgets and project management
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Spiritually vital – someone who loves Jesus and people and whose depth and intimacy with Christ is constantly growing.  This will be evident in their life exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit.
