The Biblical Counseling major exists to train and equip for three specific purposes: To train students to serve effectively as staff or lay counselors in their local churches, to enhance the training of pastoral, youth, and children’s ministry, and prepare students who would like to pursue licensure at the seminary and graduate level.

Program Goals
  • Contrast different counseling theories and models to the biblical worldview.
  • Formulate a biblical philosophy of counseling.
  • Practice basic counseling skills necessary for advising and guiding counselees.
  • Apply the consistent literal grammatical-historical method of the Bible to identify counselee’s problems and evaluate solutions from a biblical worldview.
  • Integrate the biblical worldview with their counseling methodology and practice.
  • Employ APA style to prepare students for master’s level coursework.
