Calvary University Relaunches Men’s Soccer Program Under New Head Coach Marcus Wilkes

Calvary University is excited to announce the relaunch of its men’s soccer program, set to return in Fall 2025, with the hiring of Coach Marcus Wilkes as head coach. This marks a significant milestone for Calvary Athletics, as the university revives a beloved program with fresh energy, vision, and purpose.

Coach Wilkes brings a deep passion for discipleship and player development. Wilkes played his collegiate career at fellow NCCAA DII and MCCC member school Faith Baptist Bible College. His leadership is marked by a commitment to building Christ-centered teams that strive for excellence on and off the field.

“I’m truly honored to step into this role and help restart the men’s soccer program at Calvary,” said Coach Wilkes. “We’re building from the ground up — a culture of hard work, unity, and faith. I’m excited to see the program grow and develop.”

Recruitment is already underway for the 2025–2026 academic year, with the team aiming to compete in a full varsity season beginning next fall. Coach Wilkes is looking for student-athletes who are eager to compete, grow spiritually, and be part of a new foundation for the sport at Calvary.

Athletic Director Matt Brown expressed his enthusiasm about the hire:

“We are extremely excited to welcome Marcus Wilkes to the Calvary family. His passion for young people and desire to develop them as student-athletes make him a welcome addition to the Calvary coaching staff.”

Coach Wilkes is married to Calvary women’s volleyball head coach, Jojo Wilkes. They have three children and live in the Kansas City area.
