Job Description
The Associate Pastor of Youth at Maplewood Church has been called by God to work with youth. They will provide spiritual and administrative leadership to students and parents in direct support of the mission, vision, and core values of Maplewood Church. He is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving strategies and tactics for effective student and family ministries. This includes recruiting and developing effective adult leaders, teaching our students, and leading them in service, evangelism, and discipleship. The Associate Pastor of Youth will assist the Lead Pastor as necessary and will agree with Maplewood Church’s doctrine.
Reports to: Lead Pastor and Elder Board
Responsibilities
Develop, deploy, evaluate, and adjust plans and goals at least quarterly to improve the effectiveness of student ministries.
Recruit, train, direct, and care for volunteers in the youth ministry.
Give special attention to developing 7-12 grade ministries.
Spend adequate time with the youth to know the individuals and minister to them personally.
Teach and disciple our youth for their personal spiritual development in evangelism and help them to be outreach-oriented.
Participate in leadership and direction of special mission programs, mission trips, outreach activities, and community building events for youth.
Provide pastoral counseling to youth as necessary.
Provide discipleship ministries for the youth
Provide parenting/family ministries for the youth parents of Maplewood Church. Maintain a team approach with parents in spiritual development.
Prepare the annual budget for the youth ministry’s needs and administer the approved budget according to policy, submitting monthly reports to the Lead Pastor and Board of Elders.
General Responsibilities
Preach occasionally as determined by the Lead Pastor.
Be a resource to the kid’s ministry director.
Be a resource to leaders of Crew 56, the 5th/6th grade ministry.
Be a resource to college ministry leaders.
Work 40 hours per week.
Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly meetings with the elders.
Prepare and present quarterly reports of the student ministries for the congregational meetings.
Participate in ministry conferences/trainings as available.
Participate in annual performance evaluation with the Lead Pastor.
Education and Experience Requirements
Faith in Christ that demonstrates a growing relationship.
Experience leading or serving in student ministry.
Some formal ministry training. Bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry (Pastoral, Student, Family, or Bible) is preferable.

Willingness to submit to the church constitution, board of elders, and lead pastor. Is humble and teachable.
Ability to consistently teach the Bible in a way that the youth can understand.

Capable with or willing to learn Planning Center, ProPresenter, social media, and other forms of technology
