Dr. Joshua Paxton
Title: Director of the Burnham Center for Global Engagement, Associate Professor of Intercultural Studies
Started at Calvary: July 2013
Professional Information: B.S. (Biblical Counseling), Calvary Bible College, 2004; M.Div., Calvary Theological Seminary, 2009; Ed.D. (Intercultural Education), Western Seminary, 2022.
Favorite aspect of teaching at Calvary: My favorite part of teaching is introducing students to contemporary trends and issues in ministry and missions. I love making them think about the world outside the walls of Calvary–how the nature of ministry is changing and that we must be equipped to share Christ in an ever-changing world.
Favorite class to teach: It really is Introduction to Missions because I get every student in that class. I get the opportunity to share with them God’s heart for this lost world and how they have the privilege of being involved in His plan for reaching the lost.

How did past ministry/professional experience lead to your position at Calvary: It’s a long story (and a good one too) but God landed us back at Calvary at the perfect time. We had undergone some transitions in ministry that were beyond our control, and at the same time Calvary had a need for a new Intercultural Studies instructor. It all just came together perfectly.
Ministry/Professional involvement outside of Calvary: I also work with Avant Ministries as a mobilizer and the coordinator for the Ethne NE Internship. I do a lot of networking with local churches, ministries and various individuals working among the international populations in Kansas City.
