A chess game erupts in smiles and laughter; a student engrossed in a textbook – or his computer and an assignment, a young man and woman chatting quietly, the barista watching and noting who needs encouragement. A place to eat, drink, study, learn, and build relationships.Â
Through the years, the Warrior CafĂ© has had many names, but the experience is common for many who call themselves Alumni. It’s where many of you began your romances, where theological lessons were debated and learned, and where conversations about a lifetime of commitment to ministry took place. These memories are a part of your journey, and the CafĂ© holds a special place in your heart. Â
As a home to thought, consideration, and exploration of the Word of God and what it means for the life of an individual or group today – the Warrior CafĂ© holds a longstanding place of importance in the experience of a student at Calvary University.Â
Each year, the students speak about a project that we approach the Alumni to help us upgrade the campus to improve their day-to-day experience. The 2025 Alumni Campaign project is to replace the floor in the Warrior CafĂ©. Located on the lower level of the Conference Center, this location originally had three separate rooms with different flooring styles. While the walls were moved to open the space, the original floor needs a significant upgrade.Â
The cost to upgrade the floor is $23,000. This investment will not only enhance the aesthetics of the CafĂ© but also provide a more comfortable and conducive environment for students to study, socialize, and grow in their faith. The Student Senate and senior classes have made many upgrades to the Warrior CafĂ© over the last three years. The flooring is the one element that needs attention.Â
Your investment as an alumnus will be a blessing to the current and future students who meet to discuss, debate, learn, enjoy, and grow in faith and relationships. Your contribution will transform the CafĂ© into a space that inspires and nurtures, making a significant difference in the lives of our students. Without your investment, the floor will remain—an eyesore that everyone politely tries to avoid and a cleaning challenge for the maintenance crew.Â
We invite your investment today. Your experience as an alumnus is a part of the rich history of Calvary University. Your memories, conversations, and interactions are integral to the fabric of our institution. Your investment will help create an attractive environment that assists in gathering students to places where the work of discipleship can happen.Â
In the past, as part of the Alumni Campaign, we have drawn together students who call and share with you about the present-day Calvary experience, endeavor to pray with you and encourage a prayerful and thoughtful gift. However, with the changes in society and technology, this form of communication is becoming increasingly challenging. Therefore, this year, we have made some changes to the campaign. Â
Through February, Dr. Granados and I will be at a series of Open House events located regionally. These events are designed to provide you with an opportunity for a personal conversation about the impact of your potential gift – investment – and to give you an opportunity to connect again with Calvary. The list of places, dates, and times is located below and on the website. We invite you to attend one of these events and learn more about the impact of Calvary today.Â
Your gift today is an encouragement and a blessing to the student body and to Calvary. Â
