Union Valley Bible Church is a dispensational, non-charismatic, non-denominational church with a long history in Hutchinson, KS. Our congregation (approximately 250 people) comes from a wide range of backgrounds and communities, making a melting pot of believers held together by a love for Jesus Christ.  We exist to glorify God by leading people to personal faith and maturity in Christ.

Hutchinson is a city with a population of nearly 40,000 people and located 45 minutes from Wichita, which is a city of nearly 400,000 people and includes an airport with most national airlines.

Purpose of the Position

The Associate Pastor position is primarily responsible for leading, developing, training, administrating, and overseeing all of UVBC adult ministries, such as Sunday School, small groups, and bible studies.

This position will also be responsible for overseeing our children’s and youth ministries, as well as our church library.

This is not for the person looking to use this position as a stepping stone to a lead pastor position.

Required Qualifications

Meets the biblical qualifications for pastor (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-3).
Demonstrates a growing relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced by action, attitude, and behavior.
5-10 years minimum experience in pastoral ministry.
A master’s degree from seminary.
Strong relational, organizational, administrative, and team building skills.
Strong teaching and communication skills (written and oral formats).
In theological agreement with UVBC doctrinal statement.
A philosophy of ministry that seeks to disciple and equip the saints for the work of ministry.

Specific Responsibilities

Adult Ministries

Work with the Senior Pastor to carry out the vision for UVBC adult ministries.
Develop and provide training where and when needed to current Sunday School, small groups, and bible study leaders.
Provide oversight of curriculum and subjects related to adult ministries.
Will be flexible to teach either a Sunday School class, or small group, depending on need or passion.
Find and develop other potential leaders to teach in adult ministries.
Plan out the adult ministries annual schedule.

Children’s and Youth Ministries

Act as director of children’s Sunday School (first service only), with the expectation to install a new director of children’s Sunday School.

Responsible for curriculum used, and the recruitment and training of volunteers.

Regularly meet with volunteer ministry directors of Children’s (2) and Youth ministry (1) to help develop them and strengthen their ministries where needed.

Oversee and give input to the ministry directors planning and scheduling of events.
Oversee and assist ministry directors in their proposed annual budgets.
Oversee the volunteer staffing and training for these ministries.
Provide oversight of the curriculum and subjects taught in each ministry.

General Responsibilities

Participate in weekly staff meetings to help contribute to the overall direction and vision of the church.
Preach 8-10 times a year in the weekend services.
Participates in giving announcements in the weekend services.
Occasionally assist in pastoral counseling, and hospital visitation.
May be called upon to perform weddings, or funerals if needed.

Salary Package

$50-60k, which includes a health insurance allowance.
A church parsonage is available for use, but not required.
Parsonage is around 1,600 sq. ft., 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 2 car attached garage, full appliances, and a finished basement.
Pastoral expense account for training, resources, and ministry appointments.
