Student Ministries Pastor Position Available

Creekside Bible Church of Marion, Iowa is seeking the man God has prepared for effective ministry to our teens, students, and families.

The primary role of the Student Ministries Pastor will be 6th-12th grade youth ministry, but we know God often places more than one passion in the hearts of His people, so if the candidate has worship, technical, counseling, or other gifts there is freedom to craft a job description that allows the Associate Pastor to flourish as God has planted.

Creekside is a healthy, growing, multi-generational church in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area. Cedar Rapids is a rapidly growing place full of young people and a great job market, but it consistently ranks among the least churched areas in the nation. We are looking for someone who will help us reach the teens of the area with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Accordingly, proficiency in social media, coupled with the wisdom to properly handle those tools, is a must. The youth ministry is strong and growing. Our last Youth Pastor left very well, without any cloud of controversy, so the new pastor will start from a very healthy place.

God has been very good to Creekside throughout our history, and we trust Him to continue to provide in every way. Our finances are in good order, the congregation is friendly and helpful, and our leadership is extraordinary. We have a strong history of biblical teaching, a great core of young people upon which to build, and an excitement among the students as new youth are being added weekly. The church is supportive and ready to embrace new ideas in the youth ministry. We have recently converted a larger room into the new youth center, and are eager to find the man with the vision to carry this ministry forward. The Senior Pastor is encouraging and a team-builder, eager to meld your vision with his for a cohesive, church-wide strategy for discipleship and growth. We are looking for someone who is motivated to excellence, intentional in setting boundaries, and, above all, passionate about Jesus Christ and His word.

The Student Ministries Pastor will work with the Senior Pastor, leadership, other staff, and the congregation to contribute to the overall mission of Creekside. The Student Ministries Pastor will be responsible to:

Ø  Serve as an elder on the Executive Board, performing the duties of the associate pastor as outlined in our constitution & by-laws (Along with our Statement of Faith, our governing documents available upon request and will be provided to any applicant selected for an interview)

Ø  Develop, plan and oversee ministry to students and young people from 6th grade up, with oversight of the Children’s Ministry Director & children’s ministries.

Ø  Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer leaders

Ø  Keep regular office hours, including weekly staff meetings

Ø  Spend a reasonable amount of time on campus or at activities for the schools represented in our congregation & in the community

Ø  Preach periodically (Schedule to be set with Senior Pastor depending on the candidate’s desires and abilities)

Ø  Coordinate the use of social media

Ø  Bring additional gifts and areas of passion to the position

Ø  Additional duties as decided in conjunction with the Senior Pastor and Executive Board

This is a full-time, salaried position. Exact compensation and benefits will be set in the final stages of the candidating process, commensurate with experience and need.
