Objective

·         To oversee and lead the development of our Kansas City urban youth programs focused on the spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and educational development and health of the youth we serve.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Lead and encourage staff in order to fulfill their calling and job description, and provide effective guidance in conflict resolution, mediation, instruction and training, and performance evaluations.

·         Be a positive and productive collaborating member of the ministry team, providing effective leadership and communication, and building a positive, growth-oriented safe work environment. Provide direct oversight and leadership for each unique program and activity of the VYC.

·         Establish and lead regularly-scheduled individual and group staff meetings, work in coordination with the Clinical Director (or CPO) to participate in clinical staff meetings, and collaborate with the Women & Family Ministry (WFM) Director in the strategic development of VYC program goals, outcomes, policies, procedures, and directed revisions. Be an active and positive contributing advocate in City Union Mission staff and Family Services meetings.

·         Oversee program budget and expenditures, be involved in the interview process and training of new hires, recruit, supervise and train interns and volunteer staff, and participate in the processes for personnel development, probation, dismissal or resignation.

·         Provide guidance to VYC staff in policy and procedure fulfillment, and oversee the staff implementation of behavioral management and disciplinary practices for youth.

·         Lead and collaborate with the Assistant Administrator in the development and implementation of City Camp, as well in creating a yearly activities calendar for VYC participants, working with appropriate Directors to assess calendar and facility feasibility.

·         Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports as directed by WFM Director, and work in direct coordination with WFM Director to maintain the VYC facility.

·         Participate in continuing educational opportunities as requested or desired.

·         Seek to exemplify Jesus Christ daily and be prepared to share the gospel as opportunities arise.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

·         Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities during the work day arise. (1 Peter 2:21 and 1 Peter 3:15). Able to lead others in spiritual maturity and demonstrate the attributes of a Christian role model with clients, staff, and the community at large (1Timothy 4:12; Joshua 24:15).

·         Required: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college in child/adolescent development, behavioral health, or related field from a regionally accredited school, and 4+ years’ experience in program administration or development. Preferred: Master’s degree in child/ adolescent development, behavioral health, or related field from a regionally accredited school, and 3+ years’ experience as a program administration, leadership, and supervision in a faith-based behavioral health, youth addiction recovery, or youth ministry program.

·         Exhibit leadership, good judgment, sensitivity, compassion, creativity,

·         Demonstrate professional oral and written communication, and organization skills.

·         Demonstrated high level computer proficiency, and social media skills

·      Competency in recreational and outdoor activities (swimming, fishing, camping, boating, and games).
