Food Warehouse Associate

Job Summary:

The Food Warehouse Associate assists the Administrator with receiving, recording, sorting, storing and distributing purchased and donated foods, housekeeping, and personal care supplies using a continual computerized inventory system

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

·         Ensuring accurate inventory of donated food, housekeeping, and personal care supplies using computerized inventory system.

·         Supervising volunteers ensuring they have a positive experience while getting the tasks done well.

·         Filling orders for the kitchens and all departments requesting food, housekeeping, and personal care supplies.

·         Helping maintain USADA, Health Department standards and other government agencies’ standards in the storage of food and building sanitation.

·         Answer the door and phone.

·         Receive, record and sort all purchased and donated foods, housekeeping, personal care and other items.

·         Must be able to develop and maintain systems for inventorying, price comparisons, and others as needs arise.

·         Maintain inventory and rotation stock for freshness.

·         Be responsible to see that the coolers/freezers are in working order and report any problems to the Food Service/Warehouse/Fleet Director and the Facilities Director.

·         Transport/deliver food orders to other departments as needed.

·         Develop a cleaning schedule that maintains health department sanitation requirements.

·         Work holidays or weekends if deemed necessary by Warehouse Administrator and/or Chief Officer of Physical Operations.

·         Work independently with little supervision and perform other duties as assigned.

·         Perform other duties as required.

·         Agree to City Union Mission’s Statement of Ministry:

o   Be a genuine believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, as expressed by personal testimony and conduct.

o   Be a member in good standing of a recognized protestant, evangelical church for one year or more.

o   Have a genuine concern for the ministry of City Union Mission.

o   Have a minimum of one year of sobriety from alcohol and drugs and six months from tobacco.

o   Agree to abstain from alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, and tobacco while employed by City Union Mission.

o   Have a lifestyle that is free of sexual sin as clearly defined in the Bible.

Required Skills/Abilities:

·         Must have a Food Handlers certification or be able to obtain one in 3 months.

·         Must have a valid driver’s license

·         Must be forklift certified within 3 months

·         Obtain OSHA training within 6 months.

·         Must have good communication skills, an understanding of the needs of men with special problems.

·         Must be highly organized, have good time management skills and an attention to detail and cleanliness.

·         Needs to have more than basic computer skills, such as knowledge of Excel, Word, Adobe and etc.

 

Education and Experience:

·         High School diploma required

·         At least 2 years of relevant work experience required.

·         Associate Degree or higher preferred.

Physical Requirements:

·         Prolonged periods of sitting/standing/kneeling, etc.

·         Ability to ascend/descend stairs multiple times throughout shift.

·         Must be able to lift 50lbs unassisted and must obtain assistance with equipment or co-worker for weights over 50lbs

·         Must be able to operate motor vehicle, such as 15-passenger van and box trucks with lift gates

Travel Requirements:

·         Ability to drive to our campuses in Kansas City and in Warsaw.
