·         To provide a positive educational environment for program participants in the Christian Life Center to encourage growth towards their most viable independent life.

Duties and Responsibilities

·          Function as a positive contributing staff member of City Union Mission by engaging in timely communication, active participation in meetings, strategic planning, data management, supplying accurate reports, and problem solving to ensure unity with the purpose and goals of the Mission.

·          Oversee, teach, manage, and direct all facets of the Learning Center including tracking academic progress and performance, providing assessments, creating individual education plans in coordination with case management and vocational development, supervising volunteer tutors, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom.

·          Participate as an active member of the Vocational Development team to research, update, and utilize education resources, assessments, and curriculum for students.

·          Keep accurate records of each student’s progress, taking detailed notes to coordinate with vocational, spiritual, and educational goals.

·          Provide access to and prepare students for completion of a GED/HiSET or other certification.

·          Be willing to perform other duties as assigned.

·         Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities during the work day arise. (1 Peter 2:21, 3:15)

·         Able to lead others in spiritual maturity and demonstrate the attributes of a Christian role model with clients, staff, and the community at large. (1 Timothy 4:12, Joshua 24:15).

·         Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Demonstrate computer literacy in Google and Microsoft applications.

·         Required: Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, or other related field, and 4 years of related experience.

·         Preferred: Master’s degree in education with an emphasis in adult education or working with low-income and homeless populations.
