Title: Adjunct Faculty, Biblical Counseling
Started at Calvary: July 2017
Professional Information: B.S. (Biblical Counseling and Pastoral Studies), Calvary Bible College, 2001; M.Div. (Pastoral Studies), Calvary Theological Seminary, 2005; M.A. (Biblical Counseling), Dallas Theological Seminary, 2007; Ph.D. Family Therapy, Texas Woman’s University, 2017.
Favorite aspect of teaching at Calvary: I absolutely love interacting with the students. I myself became a Christian many years ago in Brazil through the ministry of several Calvary graduates who were serving Jesus as church planters. So I find it a great privilege to help train students who will go out and help minister to individuals such as myself all over the world.
Favorite class to teach: Any counseling related class. I especially enjoy teaching Pastoral Counseling. I am a big believer that church leaders need to be as well trained as possible in counseling. The ministry of counseling belongs to the church first and foremost.
Originally from: Maceio, Brazil
Favorite memory as a Calvary student: I was deeply transformed by my interactions with the faculty, as well as by my friendships. Living on campus was a great experience for me, as for the first time in my life I was surrounded by Christian peers.
How did past ministry/professional experience lead to your position at Calvary: The last several years, the Lord has blessed me with further professional training and experience in the area of counseling. But I truly believe that it’s my own personal journey—dealing with my brokenness and my ups and down, that the Lord has used more than anything to help develop me as a counselor.
Ministry/Professional involvement outside of Calvary: My family and I are also serving Jesus in Brazil by helping train the local church in the area of counseling.
