Description

The mission of the English department is to train graduates who can write effectively, creatively, and persuasively and who reflect the image of God with sound thinking, artful expression, thoughtful literary analysis, and a commitment to the Biblical worldview.

Objectives

The English Department will produce graduates who are able to:

• Produce clear, effective writing that is appropriate for its purpose, thoughtful in its analysis, and considerate of its audience.
• Critically and skillfully analyze literature in a way that is deeply rooted in a Biblical view of the human experience and spiritual realities.
• Create stories that honor God in their skillful and imaginative command of narration, plot, setting, character development, conflict, and theme.

• Demonstrate an ability to think critically, consider the merits and flaws of opposing viewpoints. and synthesize responses.
