Favorite class to teach: Hermeneutics & Inductive Bible Study, because this is the basis for everything else in biblical studies and theology. If you do not interpret the Bible correctly, you will not apply it correctly.

Originally from: Born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin, graduating from high school and college in my home town. During my senior year in college I met Joyce Butterfield on a “blind” date (which God orchestrated) and we were married June 20, 1964. We were saved in 1971 and have five grown children and 14 grandchildren.

How did past ministry/professional experience lead to your position at Calvary? I worked as an industrial research chemist for 11 years after college. During that time the Lord saved us and led us to Dallas Seminary. I worked as a curriculum writer (and other things) during seminary, taking six years to finish a four year program. I spent five years in two pastoral positions and 15 years at Moody Bible Institute managing the Evening School and Extension Studies programs. In July 2000 we moved to Kansas City to begin as Dean of Calvary Theological Seminary. In 2016, I was asked to be the Director of the Seminary at Calvary University.

Ministry/Professional involvement outside of Calvary: Member of IFCA International, and the Pre-Trib Study Group, Who’s Who in Higher Education. We enjoy filling the pulpit and doing Bible conferences on apologetics, inductive Bible study, and creationism. My favorite books of the Bible are Genesis, Romans, Galatians, and James.
