JOPLIN, MO – September 19, 2017 – Slow starts and a set 3 loss did not faze the Calvary Women’s Volleyball team (5-1, 1-0 MCCC) as they won their fifth game of the season over Ozark Christian College in four sets: 25-13, 25-11, 17-25, 25-21.

Even with the slow starts, the first two sets were all Calvary. In the first set, the Lady Warriors had to battle back from an early 7-2 deficit, going on a 23-6 run to finish the set. Set 2 was much the same story, though Ozark and Calvary played nearly even until two back to back kills by senior Tasha Krahn spurred the Lady Warriors on to a 17-5 run, and a set win 25-11.

Set 3 was a different story. Hitting a season low -.128 percentage, Calvary struggled to get much of anything over the net. Taking advantage of this, Ozark played very well, not allowing the Warriors to lead at any point in the match and winning 25-17.

In the fourth set, the Lady Warriors regained their bearings, though now against a much more confident Lady Ambassadors team. After a quick 6-1 lead for Calvary, Ozark fought back to get within 3, and never fell behind by more than four points the entire match.

For the set, the Lady Warriors totaled only a .134 hitting percentage, though they had 48 kills and 58 digs for the game. Individually for the Warriors, Tasha Krahn had 20 kills, hitting .308 and 4 solo blocks. Alyssa Splitter had 8 kills, 15 assists, and 6 digs.

The Lady Warriors next matchup will be September 22 at Barclay College. The Lady Bears (2-8, 0-1 MCCC) last played Emmaus Bible College, losing in three sets.
