Commencement 2012
Calvary Bible College and Thelogical Seminary Graduates 70 Students
Calvary Bible College and Theological Seminary celebrated the graduation of 70 students on Saturday, May 5.
Many of the graduates will begin serving the Lord in the workplace while others will embark on opportunities of full-time ministry. In each case, graduates leave Calvary with an exceptional biblical foundation matched with training for a professional vocation for a life of service.
Commencement exercises were held at Red Bridge Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo. Distinguished alumnus Dr. Michael P. Andrus delivered the commencement address.
Andrus, son of former Calvary Bible College president, Dr. Roger J. Andrus, reminded graduates to be conscience of the actions they take, as it relates to their Christian testimony.
“It was a blessing to have Mike Andrus speak,” said Calvary president Dr. James Clark. “We graduated 70 students, including 14 from the Seminary, who will all be going out into the world to serve the Lord.”
The Calvary Bible College graduating class received a total of 44 Bachelor of Science degrees; seven Bachelor of Arts degrees; four Associate of Arts degrees; and one Life Track certificate.
The institution’s graduate division, Calvary Theological Seminary, granted nine Master of Science degrees; two Master of Arts degrees; and three Master of Divinity degrees.
During commencement exercises, Dr. Clark presented the Alumni of the Year award to Shea and MeLissa Houdmann of Colorado Springs, Colo. The Houdmanns are 1999 and 1998 Calvary Bible College graduates, respectively, and were recognized for their development of GotQuestions.org. This Internet ministry serves as the largest multi-lingual Christian website in the world. In March 2012, the website yielded 3.0 million visitors and 6.4 million page views.
Throughout its 10-year history, the staff, primarily consisting of hundreds of volunteer writers and translators, has answered more than 300,000 questions from those seeking to know biblical truth about faith, religion and Christian life.
"Each year we solicit Alumnus of the Year nominations from our alumni family,” said Sara Klaassen, alumni relations coordinator. “This year the President's Cabinet chose Shea and MeLissa Houdmann from a list of several worthy nominees. They have been an excellent example of faithfulness and reaching the lost through their ministry."
