Coaching Staff

 Anthony Mickelson

Responsibilities: Head Men's Basketball Coach

Coach Mickelson is a former Calvary Warrior basketball player himself. While a student athlete for the Warriors, he was an Academic All-American. He received an Associate’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Calvary Bible College in 2005. He also received a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Secondary Education from William Jewell College in 2007 and a Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Cornerstone University in 2009.

Mickelson has previously coached basketball at Faith Christian Academy in Kansas City, MO. He has also coached at summer basketball camps for many years, including Don Eddy Basketball Camps based in San Antonio, TX, and even designed and led his own basketball camps for all ages.

“My favorite Bible verse in the context of sports,” says Mickelson “is I Timothy 4:8 because it helps us keep athletics in perspective, seeing that it has some profit but pales in comparison to the profit brought by godly living through personal faith in Jesus Christ.” Coach Mickelson’s goal is to use Calvary Basketball to extend the Great Commission to the basketball court and beyond – mentoring players in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and allowing them opportunities through basketball to share about the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Mickelson and his wife, Crystal, met at Calvary Bible College and reside in Kansas City.

  Nate White
Responsibilities: Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Coach White comes to Calvary Bible College from Heritage Christian Academy, where he was an assistant coach for varsity, junior varsity and head junior high coach.  He has been involved in basketball his entire life, including having the opportunity to play alongside Coach Mickelson at Calvary Bible College.  Coach White graduated from Ashford University with a Sports and Recreation Management degree.

Since age 7 when Coach White placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ, he has continued to build a relationship with Christ. He met his beautiful bride, Marci, at Calvary Bible College.  They have two beautiful children, Loralie and Silvie.  During his off time, Coach White spends time with his family at local parks and at racing events his wife participates in.  Both girls are starting preschool and are looking forward to the new experience.  The family currently resides in Shawnee, Kansas.

White says: “A favorite verse of mine is Jeremiah 29:11--For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. To me, this is an amazing verse of how God wants what is best for us.  We simply have to rely completely on His will.”
