International Students

Calvary Bible College is authorized by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to enroll non-immigrant students. The following admission requirements are to be completed:

Step One: TOEFL

[Note: The TOEFL is not required if English is your first language.]

Complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as soon as possible. A minimum score of 80 on the internet-based TOEFL (with a preferred minimum of 20 in each section) or 550 on the paper based TOEFL is required for admission.

Go to www.toefl.org for more information about this test. The Calvary Bible College TOEFL school identification code is 6331.

English language ability may also be determined by passing a full academic year of college-level freshman English with a grade of C or better at an accredited institution of higher education in the United States. ESL classes taken at another college may also be considered.

Step Two: Financial Certification

[Note: Calvary does not sponsor International students, and we have very few scholarships available.]

Calvary Bible College requires a proper and current affidavit of support. The form used for this purpose (International Student Financial Certification Form) is available from the Admissions Office upon receipt of your TOEFL score. You must have the form signed by each sponsor and notarized by a public government official within one year of your intended enrollment.

A student may have one or more sources of funds, but together they must total $16,000 for each school year. Each source must be separately identified, along with the amount each will provide for each year of study. A statement of verification must be submitted from each sponsor’s bank or financial establishment. If the student uses any personal funds, he/she must also have a statement of verification from his/her bank or financial establishment.

Certificates of balance are not a substitute for the signed bank portion of the affidavit. If your sponsor’s bank is unable or unwilling to sign the form, the bank must submit a letter to the Admissions office, stating its policy.

Step Three: Application

After completing steps 1 and 2, you may request an application packet:

Calvary Bible College
15800 Calvary Road
Kansas City, MO 64147

Phone: 800-326-3960
Email: admissions@calvary.edu

An incomplete application may delay processing, so carefully answer all questions or provide information as requested. The following guidelines also apply to international students:

  1. The international student application fee (non-refundable) is $30 and must be submitted with your application. Only international money orders or U.S. currency will be accepted. No request for admission will be processed until this fee has been received.
  2. You must provide English translated copies of your entire secondary and post-secondary school records from your home country. No admissions decisions will be made until your final transcript(s) has been received. All documents submitted become the property of the college and will not be returned.
  3. You must provide an English translation of your reference forms (included in application packet).
  4. A minimum score of 17 on the ACT or 840 on the SAT is required for admission. This requirement is waived if you have completed 12 or more semester credit hours. Information about the ACT or SAT tests may be found on the following websites:
ACT: www.act.org SAT: www.collegebroad.org

Step Four: Acceptance and I-20 Form

If you are accepted, you will receive a letter with a USCIS form I-20 A-B/ID (Certificate of Eligibility for Non-Immigrant [F-1] Student Status – for Academic and Language Students) enclosed.

Upon receipt of the I-20, you will need to obtain a student visa. Take the I-20 to the nearest U.S. Consulate. You must also prove to the consulate that you have the financial resources required for your education and stay in the United States. For more information about becoming an academic student in the United States, visit www.uscis.gov. Please note that you are solely responsible for following immigration laws.

Step Five: Enrollment Fee

To confirm to us your intent to study at Calvary, you must pay a non-refundable enrollment fee of $150. Only international money orders or U.S. currency will be accepted.

Step Six: Health Insurance

You are required to carry health insurance throughout the time you attend Calvary, and you will be required to show proof of your coverage.
