Dr. James L. Clark
President of Calvary Bible College & Theological Seminary
Education: B.S., E.T.T.A. Diploma, Calvary Bible College, Music, Christian. Education, 1967; 2 years graduate studies, Bethel Theological Seminary; M.Div. Trinity Theological Seminary, 1989; Ph.D. Trinity College and Seminary, Biblical Counseling, 1993.
Dr. Clark came to Calvary Bible College and Theological Seminary in 1993 as a faculty member and chair of the Biblical Counseling Department. He established the Biblical Counseling and Education Center, serving as Director/Counselor for fourteen years. He was appointed Academic Dean in 1998 and then served as Vice President and Academic Dean of the College for eight years before becoming President in 2009. During that time, he also served as the Accreditation Coordinator.
Prior to joining the College and Seminary faculty, he served over 20 years in the local church ministry as associate pastor and senior pastor. He also served as a chaplain for a community college, a Minnesota correctional facility, and a volunteer fire department. Prior to the pastorate, he served as an Executive Director for Southeast Iowa Youth For Christ.
Dr. Clark is actively involved as a seminar speaker, a conference speaker, and a speaker at retreats, camps, and local churches. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Avant Ministries and of Evangelical Enterprises, Inc., and is a founding member of "Counselor's Edge," a counseling ministry based in the greater Kansas City area.
Dr. Clark has previously served on the Board of Regents of Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary and as Vice President of the International Association of Biblical Counselors. He has also taught biblical counseling in Brazil at retreats and seminars held by A.B.E.C.A.R. Theological Bible College & Seminary and Verdade Biblica.
Dr. Clark and his wife, DeLoris, have three children and fourteen grandchildren. Dr. Clark is the first Calvary graduate to become president of the institution.
Dr. Teddy Bitner
Academic Dean of Calvary Bible College
Education: B.S., Central Missouri State University, Accounting, 1972; M.A., Wheaton College, Christian Ministry, 1982; D.Min., Trinity Theological Seminary, Pastoral Theology, 1982; M.M.A.S, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Military History, 1983; Diploma, U.S. Army War College, National Strategic Studies, 1995.
Dr. Bitner retired as a Colonel from the United States Army in 1998 and came to Calvary on a full-time basis in the fall of 2002. His military experience includes commands at all levels from Captain to Colonel, including command of 2nd Battalion, 52nd ADA, XVIII Airborne Corps during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Dr. Bitner led the NATO team which planned combat operations in Bosnia and subsequently wrote the Dayton Peace Implementation Plan. He was on the ground in Bosnia for the final combat operation which brought the Bosnian war to an end in September 1995.
Dr. Bitner is currently a member of the US Delegation for the US-Russian Federation Missile Defense Cooperative Program and serves on the Board of Directors for the following organizations: National Vietnam and Gulf War Veterans’ Coalition; Highway Mission; and Freedom Fest. He is the president of the Cycle Disciples Motorcycle Club.
Dr. Thomas Baurain
Academic Dean of Calvary Theological Seminary
Education: B.A., Lawrence College, Chemistry; 1963; Th.M., Dallas Theological Seminary, Bible Exposition, 1980; D.Min., Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, 1988; Ph.D.
Dr. Baurain is originally from Wisconsin, but came to Calvary in July 2000 through contacts with former students, faculty, and administration. He is a member of IFCA International and the Conservative Theological Society.
Before coming to know Christ, Dr. Baurain was a research chemist by trade. After later graduating from seminary, he served five years in pastorate and 15 years at the Moody Bible Institute in extension education. He is married to Joyce, and they have five grown children, 14 grandchildren.
Vice President of Operations
Rev. Randy Grimm graduated from Calvary Bible College in 1978. He pastored three churches in Missouri and Kansas, from 1977 to 2001, before returning to Calvary in 2001 to take the position of Director of Development. He became the Vice President of Operations in 2006 and has continued to serve in the pastorate as well, ministering the last five years at Graham Union Church in Graham, Missouri. His wife, Ruth, also serves at Calvary. He has two children and four grandchildren.
