The Calvary Bible College Music Department exists to train and nurture musicians for the furtherance of the Gospel of Christ. Our music faculty love the Lord and they love music. They are accomplished and gifted musicians, active in their respective fields, who truly desire to see students grow in the knowledge of God’s Word and the music He so masterfully created. As a Calvary Bible College music student, you will develop the skills and competency necessary for effective ministry in your chosen area even as you are challenged to grow in Godly character. You will also develop a personal philosophy of music based upon biblical principles that can be used to help reach your corner of the world for Christ. There are many opportunities for ministry including the Calvary Chorale, Evidence, the Calvary Orchestra, musicals, chapel music leading, special music, and accompanying. Calvary music grads have gone on to serve the Lord as worship leaders, music teachers, performers, songwriters, and other related fields. These are just some of the avenues of ministry that Calvary music grads can take. God is at work at Calvary. We invite you to join in!
A mixed chorus that performs during the school year and tours in the spring semester.
Calvary Masterworks Chorus
An orchestra and a large chorus with participants from all of Calvary and the community, presenting a major choral work such as “Messiah.”
Students may lead singing or provide instrumental accompaniment, as well as perform special music.
The Evidence music team is a small vocal ensemble that travels and performs during both semesters and summer. Members receive scholarships for the following fall semester.
Instrumentalists can participate in chapel, the Chorale, praise bands, pit orchestras, and perform at Calvary events.
Fine Arts Series
Each year, students can participate in the drama or musical, gaining theatrical experience through acting and behind-the-scenes work. A recent musical was “Annie Get Your Gun.”
Music Majors and Minors
The majors are: Worship Arts, Music Education, Music Performance and Pedagogy, Theatre Arts, and Worship Arts and Youth Ministry. Minors are made possible by combining a major with a minor from a different department.
These are required for music majors but open to the entire student body.
Several daytime recitals are scheduled each semester to help students grow through performing in a smaller recital setting.
